"To the entire family of Joe Hawkins,
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers, at this time of your loss.
I first met Joe, in the 1960's, when I went to work, for the Cotton Belt. He was always kind and understanding to me, as a young man, trying to learn about railroading. I moved to Commerce, near the end of Joe's career and worked with him, there, for a short time. I was proud to have known him, for over 40 years, as a railroad brother and a friend. He will be missed."
