Coker-Mathews Funeral Home, Greenville, Texas

You can be truly comfortable calling upon the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Our history goes back many years to our founders, L.O. "Jim" Coker, Dowell Mathews, Paul Mathews and Emma Dell Mathews all served this community with dedication.

My name is Butch Mitchell. I worked here while still in high school in 1966. Eight years later I became a licensed funeral director and have been here since. Our family became owners in 1988. I am the President of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home and am proud to still be serving the families in my community.

We employ more licensed funeral directors and support personnel than any funeral home in the area; which means fewer problems before, during and after the funeral.

We continue in the
"Dedicated Service" tradition of our founders.

What Our Families Say About Us

Independent, Locally Owned & Operated

“As a minister I have done many funerals. This place is top notch. Family owned. Clean, prepared, professional, caring, and pleasant.”

Google ReviewVerified · Greenville, TX

“Cannot speak highly enough of this group of wonderful people. They truly give their all to their clients and families. From start to finish, they are attentive and caring. One of their staff, Brittany Sims, not only takes care of the community when she's at work but when she's not there. Raising donations for hurricane relief, elderly citizens in need, helping churches raise money, and spearheading Blue Santa to help children of Hunt County.”

Paige Sandlin

“There are few things harder in life than handling the passing of a loved one. However, from the moment I heard Brittany's voice on the other end of the phone I knew my family and I made the correct choice in choosing Coker-Mathews. No one can prepare you for the rush of feelings that overwhelm your body the second you step into a funeral home. As your world is forever changed, the gentle touch of Brittany's hand on your shoulder reminds you that you're not alone.”

Google ReviewVerified · Greenville, TX

“Brittany is such a nice person. I met her when my mother was involved in an ATV wreck; she was very caring for the situation we were in. I then saw her again when she held my grandfather's service and she was very kind and compassionate to my family!”

Erik Duncan

“Being in the funeral industry myself, I know that it takes a lot of compassion, work, tears, strength, dignity, kindness and many other traits to help families through their most difficult times. They go above and beyond to make sure all of their families leave knowing the doors are always open and they are now family to them.”

Google ReviewVerified · Greenville, TX

“This is an excellent place to go when you're at your most vulnerable moment, losing a loved one. They have the most professional team, and no detail is too small when it comes to having the viewing, memorial and graveside services. Our family has used their services to bury our parents and two brothers.”

Is Coker-Mathews Funeral Home independent, locally owned and operated? +
Yes. Coker-Mathews is an independent funeral home, locally owned and operated in Greenville, Texas. Our history goes back to our founders, L.O. "Jim" Coker, Dowell Mathews, Paul Mathews and Emma Dell Mathews. Butch Mitchell, who first worked here in 1966, is our President, and his family became owners in 1988. As an independent funeral home, we answer to the families we serve, not to a corporate owner.
What should I do when a death occurs? +
If you are not sure of who to notify or what to do, call Coker-Mathews Funeral Home at 903-455-4110 any time. Our phones are answered 24/7 by one of our funeral directors, and we will assist you in notifying the proper agencies and planning your loved one's memorial service. If a death occurs at home or in the workplace, contact emergency personnel and the person's physician first; if it occurs in a hospital or nursing home, the staff there will notify the necessary authorities and the funeral home.
How much does a funeral cost? +
Funeral costs vary depending on the type of service selected. There are two types of costs associated with a funeral: services provided by the funeral home and merchandise such as a casket or urn. We will provide a General Price List with all charges, and we will do everything we can to help you keep the arrangements within your budget. Call 903-455-4110 or visit our Pricing page for details.
What is the difference between burial and cremation? +
Burial usually involves a casket and interment in a cemetery, often with a visitation and funeral service. Cremation offers great flexibility in style of service, time of service, price and preference for final resting place; families may still hold a traditional funeral or memorial service. Coker-Mathews offers both and will gladly explain the options for each.
Why should I pre-plan my funeral? +
Pre-planning lets you take full control of your arrangements and spares your loved ones difficult decisions at a time of grief. By pre-paying, you lock in the cost of your funeral at today's prices. The consultation is free and you are never under any pressure or obligation. You can start online with our easy 5 question form or call 903-455-4110. What services do you offer for veterans? +
