"I write today on the fifth anniversary of Nell's passing. I knew Nell long before she met and married J L Green. She was a widow, and worked for my father, Austin Jr.. Her first husband, Bill Kramer, had passed away of brain cancer and left Nell with two children and a small manufacturer's representative company. My father had purchased the company from Nell with the proviso that she work for him as office manager.
The office was never so well organized! This was 1971 and long before computers.
And he was never so well organized! Nell was always sweet and never pushed. But she kept track of everything, all the time.
In letters she quietly corrected his grammar. She knew where every file was and kept track of the "to do" list of everyone in the office. I innocently dates Nancy while we were both in High School.
While intensely private, after Nell met J.L. she let us know he was from Quinlan and that he was a widower. This was tantamount to saying that she planned on marrying JL, quitting us and moving to Quinlan. And she did all three.
Let Nell be remembered also as a smart, energetic, organized and clever.

"I also met the Greens in 1989 when my brother-in-law and JL were both in Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. I came down from Chicago to be with my sister at that time. While the condition of the two men was serious, our families often found things to laugh about in the ICU waiting area. Little did we know that the friendship would continue from that point on.
One of the highlights of my Christmas visit to Longview for the past twenty plus years has been our annual visit to the Greens in Quinlan! I was just thinking today of Nell's hot chocolate. I'm not sure what made it so good--other than the loving hands that prepared it and the homey kitchen in which we drank it. I cherish the memories of our Quinlan visits, and I pray that all of Nell's and JL's families will be comforted with loving memories of a wonderful lady who loved them all dearly."

"God brought Nell and JL Green into our lives in 1989 while our husbands were patients at Presbyterian, Dallas. We met the family and it was "love at first sight." We have remained friends, and just a week before Nell died, we visited on the phone. We will miss speaking with her, and will especially miss our annual visit to Quinlan, where we would catch up on the news of all the kids and see the latest pictures. She was a remarkable lady. We have been praying for all the family!"
