Donna Mae (Brown) McCloud, 89, of Concord, New Hampshire died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Harris Hill Center in Concord surrounded by her loving family. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville, Texas. Burial will be at Merit Cemetery in Merit, Texas following service.
Donna was born on August 30, 1921 in Stephenville, the daughter of Vernon and Lela (Morrison) Brown. Her family moved to Nevada, Texas and also lived in Farmersville, TX where she attended both schools. She graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in Texas and lived and worked in Fort Worth many years before relocating to Seattle, Washington where she lived until she and her husband, Kenneth McCloud, retired. She spent her last years in New Hampshire.
Donna was a strong woman, a wonderful mother, and a faithful Christian who read the Bible daily. She never met a stranger and always had a smile for everyone. She was an avid amateur photographer. She had a collection of cookbooks numbering over 400. Donna was never the type to complain; when asked how she was, her answer was always, “I’m fine. Pretty good for an old lady.” Donna’s was a life well lived. Her greatest joys and blessings were her family.
Her survivors include her son Jack Mills and wife, Brenda of Washington; daughters Sarah Garret of Texas and Teresa Gladstone and husband, Cary of New Hampshire; sister Ruth Weaver of Texas; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth McCloud; her son, Kenny Roy McCloud; three sisters; and one brother.
