Goldie Geraldine “Jerry” Greer, 84, of Merit passed away June 2, 2010 at Park Haven Nursing Center.  Services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Nick Lamb and Rev. Bob Layman officiating.  Interment will follow at Merit Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 2:00 PM until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

Jerry was born on March 25, 1926 in Greenville.  She grew up along side of four uncles that truly adored her.  She spent most of her younger life in Greenville.  On September 15, 1961, she married John David Greer, the love of her life, in Greenville, and they moved to Merit. They shared thirty years together before his death in 1991. She lived in Merit until her health began to decline and was then cared for in Greenville until her death.

Jerry was a member of Merit Baptist Church. She was very dedicated to her church and was a devout volunteer who handled the books for many years.  She was a member of the Eastern Star #940 of Farmersville.  She worked as a bookkeeper for several area businesses including Henson-Kickernick and Farmers Electric Coop. Jerry brought a very bright light into this world.  Her kindness towards others was known throughout.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother Bailey Sikes Hinshaw, grandparents James D. and Lucy Sikes and four uncles Tom, Will, Ranse, and Marvin Sikes.  Those left to cherish her memory are numerous other family and friends and all fortunate enough to have known her.
