Margaret ElzeneHicks

Margaret Elzene “Dean” Hicks, 75, of Celeste passed away on October 21, 2009 at Park Haven Nursing Home.  Services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. P. Perez, Rev. Bill Eason, and Ray Hicks officiating.

Interment will follow at Celeste Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hicks was born on November 26, 1933 in Lane, Texas to Roy and Willie Davenport Wilson. On October 21, 1989, she married Samuel Hicks in Celeste.  She worked as a seamstress for J. R. Love’s Mfg. and was an avid gardener who loved the outdoors.  She was a member Hickory Creek Baptist Church. 

Her survivors include her husband of Celeste; son Darrell Dillon and wife Toni of Campbell; four daughters Sandra Sheets and husband Weldon of Celeste, Linda Chesne and husband Al of Celeste, La Deana Anderson and husband Henry of Louisiana, and Diana Pickering and husband Paul of Waco; brother Albert Wilson and wife Elvie of Garland; sister Bessie Strickland of Greenville; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 5 stepchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by parents, brother Don Wilson, and sister Idella Woods.

Grandsons Mitch Chesne, John Chesne, Kris Bohannon, Michael Sheets, Wade Sheets, and Cody Gianunzio will serve as pallbearers.
