Karen Jan Farmer McClain died the morning of August 18, 2009, at her residence. Karen was born September 23, 1959, in Greenville, Texas, to Theo and Shirley Shaw Farmer. Karen spent the majority of her life in Caddo Mills and chose to raise her beloved children there.
The family was shocked that she left us so quickly and unexpectedly. Many did not get to say a last goodbye or tell her we loved her once more. We will never get over her being gone, but we take comfort knowing she is at peace now with no more worries. Karen was a Christian and was baptized at an early age at North Baptist Church in Greenville.
She leaves behind two children. Her beautiful daughter, Miranda Ann "Mandy" McClain, and her son, Dustin Wayne McClain, of whom she was so proud. Mandy and Dustin were Karen's best friends in the world. Mandy has her mother's eyes an her caring heart. Dustin inherited his Mom's will to never give up no matter the odds.
Her father, Theo Farmer, will cherish the memories of his only daughter and takes comfort knowing she is with her "Momma" again. Her step-mother, Ann Farmer, also survives.
Left to cherish her memory are Karen's baby brother, Philip Farmer, his wife, Vonda, and their children, Phoenix and Philip Theo Jr., who love their Aunt Karen and will miss her deeply.
She will forever be in the hearts of Uncle Leo Farmer, Aunt Wanda Parsons, both from Greenville, Aunt Artie and Uncle E.B. Kent, and Aunt Jackie and Uncle Bill Kent, all of Leonard.
Also surviving is former husband, Randy McClain, with whom Karen shared many happy years and many happy memories.
Visitation will be Friday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm. The funeral will be held at 2pm Saturday, August 22, at Vansickle Baptist Church with Bro. Roger Ratliff presiding. Burial will be at Bethel Cemetery in Greenville.
Pallbearers are Richy Harris, Tommy Nelson, Brandon Nelson, cousin, Jeff Holt and nephews, Ricky McClain, Jr., and Rory McClain.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Caddo Mills High School Varsity Football Team and CMHS Varsity Cheerleaders and Drill Team.
The family is requesting donations be made at Service First Credit Union on Wesley Street for her son, Dustin McClain.
