"When Brucilla and Travis were married, we learned what a loving and caring person, she was. She had a great love of family. She could talk for hours of her family, their love and their accomplishments. She accepted Travis's family and friends immediately. His family became hers and she loved and cared for them. We were so happy she accepted us into her "family" and circle of friends. She was an exceptional person and she will be greatly missed. Our love and sympathy go out to her family and Travis. So sorry we were unable to attend her memorial. A donation has been made in her memory to the Kavanaugh Methodist Kids After School Program.

"God will help you through your sorrow. We remember her as a faithful church member in many roles. She was generous in many ways. Some we were not even aware of. Some memories: the pot bellied pig; her humor. The adventures that she and Tubby Atkinson had on a trip. They had the audience almost rolling in the aisles when they told about it at a UMW meeting. We knew her as a caring mother as our children and hers grew up.
Travis, Brucilla was blessed to have you beside her in these last years. We wish with you that they could have been more.
Our love goes to all of you.

"Brucilla was a real "buddy" of mine.
She befriended me at Kavanaugh almost 20 years ago when I was in grad school. She always greeted me with a smile and usually a giggle. Though 35 years my senior, her spirit was so much more youthful than my own. She had a joy for life that was encouraging, invigorating, intentional and heartfelt. She could do anything, and would try anything. She would get excited over a bug, and rejoice with you over new socks! I was/am convinced between she and her chum Tubby, a challenge never existed that couldn't be conquered. Certainly, there wasn't a problem unsolved or a soul uncared for when they went to work together.
When she spoke of Skip and Karen, there was earnest love/pride. Not for what you had done or become, but for your good souls, and your genuine hearts. And when she spoke of her grandchildren, there was just pure delight!
You will hear of many wonderful, funny stories in the coming days. But there will also be hundreds more - never told. Because... she quietly went about touching lives without ever saying a word, or leaving a sign she had even been there. A kindness here, a rescue there, a donation just "found," and a phone call just in time...She demonstrated that earnest, genuine joy is not only experienced, it is shared. She made it almost three-dimensional. So, to Travis, her kids, her family and close friends, those who inspired, expanded and enriched her joy - I thank you for sharing her with us for a little while. Her goodness, kindness and joy... lives on in each of us because you have done so.
