Ethelyn Stephenson Stringer, 87, of Commerce, died Saturday, May 9, 2009, at Oak Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, May 11, 2009, at the Church of Christ in Commerce under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with David Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
Mrs. Stringer was born July 23, 1921, in Klondike, the daughter of Charlie Johnson and Ethel Mae MaCaleb Stephenson. She was married to Jimmy Stringer on January 19, 1946, in Greenville. She was a retired telephone operator and a member of the Church of Christ and Ladies Bible Study.
Surviving are daughters, Marsha Herman and husband Benny of Commerce and Kathy Thomas and husband Jon of Charleston, Texas; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Steve Stringer; two brothers and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be Larry Alexander, Jim Ainsworth, Johnny Faudree, Roger Herman, John Powell and Don Stringer.
