Mr. Greaves was born on May 21, 1927, in Greenville to George Walter and Penne Elizabeth George Greaves. On February 25, 1950, he married Anita Jane Hulsey in Greenville. Jane became ill with Alzheimer’s, and he took care of her for 15 years before she passed away in June of 1998. Several years after her death, he married Patricia Parker on May 26, 2001 in Greenville. He was a member of the Greenville Lions Club and the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Bobby spent his entire life in Hunt County with the exception of the time he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. His life was full and was spent as a caretaker of many members of his family. His great love was the cattle business and the land, but he was most proud of, after his family, the completion of his BA and MBA degrees from East Texas State University . For a country boy his education represented opportunity and soon after graduating, he purchased Greaves Oil Company which later became Hunt County Oil Company. Bobby was a cowboy in the best sense of the word; honest, loyal, hard-working, and soft-hearted. He loved his family and was proud of his heritage.
His survivors include his wife, Patricia Parker of Greenville; daughters Teri Harrington and husband Roy of Wylie and Tina Lancaster and husband Gary of Paris; grandchildren Raye and Bobby Harrington of Wylie; J. T. Murrey and wife, Tennille of Rockwall; and Quinn Loftis and husband Bo of Benton, Arkansas; great-grandchildren Aidan Murrey of Rockwall and Travis Loftis of Benton, Arkansas; step-son Kenneth Thompson of Kansas City; step-grandchildren Jennifer, Forrest, and Ray Thompson all of Texas; sister Mary Lynn Dunbar of Onalaska, Texas; and brother Billy George Greaves of Lubbock; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Jane, he was preceded in death by his parents.
Honorary pallbearers will be J. T. Murrey, Jr., Butch Jones, Bobby Ash, Keith Bearden,
Bobby Harrington, and Jason Pitts.
