Dwayne was a third-generation piano salesman, known locally as ‘The Piano Man’. He sold, tuned and serviced pianos and organs for churches, schools and the public in the local Tri-State area for more than 60 years.

He started playing and working on pianos at a very early age, able to play virtually anything he heard by ear. He played piano and organ for many years at Dixon Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon before answering the call as a music director at Peniel Baptist Church, where he also served as a deacon. In addition, he provided a unique service by playing at weddings, funerals, and many other public functions, including playing for June Carter at the Reilly Springs Jamboree in May of 1961.

2nd to his service to the Lord, his passion was his involvement in the “Crossroads Gospel Band”, which he founded in 1991. The band would preform at many different functions but was most known for their contributions to the Salvation Army where they played monthly donating all proceeds to the Salvation Army.

“Tail Twister” was another title he held as he was a 50 plus year member of the Greenville Lions Club. He was honored as a ‘lifetime member’ and served 2 terms as president. A special passion of his with the Lion’s Club was the Lion Club’s camp for handicap and disabled children.

He dedicated many years to the Hunt County Fair Association where he served numerous terms as president. He also supported the City of Greenville by serving on the Greenville City Council.

In his early adulthood he served in the Army National Guard, 147th Armed Infantry Battalion, Lone Star Division. In addition, he assisted the Greenville Police Department in protecting the city as an Auxiliary Police Officer in the 1960s.

He was born in Cumby Texas on March 05, 1936, to Floyd Duff (Bill) Patterson and Alene Wooton Patterson. He married Jean Ann Baumgardner on July 27, 1955, and would have been married for 67 years this year.

Dwayne is survived by his wife Jean Ann and 3 daughters. Debbie and husband Gary Bellotte of Greenville, TX, Brenda and husband Monty Fitzgearld of Lone Oak, TX and Patty and husband Kevin Jenkins of Caddo Mills, TX. Also surviving are his brother, Bobby Patterson and wife Virginia of Murchinson TX, and sister Wanda and husband Dewey Neufeld of Tyler TX.

"I hold so many memories of Dwayne (& Jeanann) We (the cousins) would play at the house on Cornelia Street or in Lone Oak at the farm. Of course - Dwayne would always play his piano - any hymn you wanted and all by ear. He always had a big smile and a hug for everyone. Our piano that he delivered and tuned will always remind me of him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all!
