Reverend LD Smith moved to Heaven on Friday, January 28, 2022, after a week of double pneumonia caused by covid. LD had also been battling vascular dementia for a few years.

He was an ordained minister of the Assemblies of God and served as pastor and evangelist for many years. As a teen and young adult, he traveled with several ministries and tent evangelists, serving as music leader, business manager, preliminary platform man, security guard, and special singer.

Left to cherish his priceless legacy and the endless stories of 83 years of antics are: the person he treasured most — his wife of 63 years, Jane; his three girls and their husbands, JaLayne & Mike Eddy, Laura & Arlan Williams, Julie & Brent Grissom; 5 grandkids and spouses, Janea & Seth Wolverton, Kaitie & Landon Bass, Micah Eddy, Jenna Grissom, and Brantly Grissom; seven great-grandchildren Katelyn, Gideon, Reata, Solomon, Easley, Jovie, and Ellison; brother & sister-in-law Welby & LaJuana, sister-in-law Joyce, brother-in-law Raymond England; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. LD’s older brother Don, baby sister Brenda England, and 23 year old grandson Ethan Busby were already in Heaven, excited to greet him.

LD’s memorial service will be on Saturday, February 12, with a 1:30 visitation and 3:00 memorial service in the chapel at the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville. The address is 5100 Interstate 30.

The funeral home is not requiring masks but feel free to wear a mask if that makes you more comfortable.

A private graveside will be held in Dallas on February 7.
