Richard “Dick” Dallas Rutter, 75, of Greenville, passed away on August 21, 2021 surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Dover, Delaware to Samuel and Betty Rutter on May 30, 1946.
Dick was the definition of a “family man” and there was nothing he wouldn’t do for his kids, grandkids or extended family and friends. He loved time spent with family and could be found many weekends watching grandkids play sports or helping his granddaughter with photo shoots in the garage or challenging someone to a game of ping pong or Spinner. He always had an easy smile and a warm hug and didn’t mind laughing at himself or his own jokes. He was so loved and will be sorely missed by all who knew him including his church family at Grace Communion.
Dick is survived by his loving wife, Joyce, of 52 years, his son Loren and daughter-in-law, Melanie of Greenville, grandchildren, Lauren, Willow and Phoenix; daughter Kamie and son-in-law Dean (Hawkins) of Leander along with grandchildren, Chris and Darynn Thorn, Madyson and Caleb, his brother Martin and wife Bonnie, sister Linda and husband Bob Biskup, and sister Sharon Gowens, as well as a host of many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joyce’s parents, his son Jonathan, his sister Betty, a niece and 2 brother-in-laws.
There will be a memorial service celebrating his life at Coker-Matthews Funeral Home in Greenville on Tuesday, August 24, at 2 p.m.
