Onnie Marie Kirkman, 92, of Quinlan, passed on July 31, 2021 at Tender Care Colonial Lodge. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Wieland Cemetery with Rev. Roger Ratliff officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time.
Onnie was born November 20, 1928 in Gouldbusk, to Lee and Lenora Slate. She married J. F. Kirkman on_March 11, 1947 in Amarillo, Texas. The two were happily married for 50 years until his death in 1997.
Onnie was a devoted wife, mother and Christian. She spent her life taking care of her family and at the age of 40 decided to start nursing school so she could help take care of others. She worked for many years at Terrell State Hospital working with adolescent patients and the remaining years before retirement as a beloved school nurse for Quinlan ISD. She has inspired so many in her 92 years and will be greatly missed.
Onnie is survived by her sons, Harry Kirkman and wife Pam of Canadian, TX, Dennis Kirkman of Cash, TX, Dean Kirkman of Irving, Charles Kirkman and wife Cheri of Bedford, TX. 7 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Diane Howell and 3 sisters and 1 young brother.
