William W. McClendon,Jr. 80, of Elkhart, Indiana, formerly of Angleton died the evening of October 12, 2008 at his residence. A private graveside service will be held Wednesday at Payne Town Cemetery near Quinlan under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville. Rev. Leroy Butts and Rev. Randy Dean will officiate.
Mr. McClendon was born October 11, l928 in Quinlan to William W. and Mildred(Hinkle) McClendon,Sr. In l969 he married Mary Flores in Angleton.
In 1982 he retired from Dow Chemical with more than 35 years service. He loved gardening, fishing and was an avid bowler and former stock car driver. He loved spending time with his family.
His survivors include his wife of Elkhart, Indiana, sons, William W. McClendon,III of Kathy and Billy Whit McClendon of Elkhart, Indiana, grandchildren, Tyler and Alyssa McClendon of Elkhart, Indiana, and Connor McClendon of Kathy, sisters, Joan Dean of Dallas, Mildred Patton of Greenville and Bessie Meyers of Jacksonville, Fla. and brothers, John McClendon of Caddo Mills and James R. McClendon of Dallas.
His parents and one sister, Ollie Mae Littleton, preceded him in death.
