"Pa has been my second dad for 46 years now. When I lost my dad in 1971, he filled the gap for me as dad. I could always sit and talk to him about everything. From the very first, I felt his love and acceptance as if I was his own. Sometimes in this last year when Granny has been so sick, Charles Jr. would take her to the doctor, and I would stay with Pa. I never begrudged that. I loved him. He kept a good attitude through unspeakable tragedy. I will sorely miss visiting with him when we drive down, but as I told my grandson, now Pa is dancing in heaven. I wouldn't wish him back here for anything."

"Charles and Alberta have been dear friends since moving across the Street from them in 1984. One never had to be afraid to leave for a vacation, because they were always aware of what was happening in the neighborhood.

Last week, Charles dressed up in what looked like his "Sunday Go To Meeting Clothes" and had Alberta call me and tell me and Robin Walker that he was ready to come inspect our remodel and construction project. He had sat on his porch all summer long watching the progress from across the street.

His often repeated comment was "my, my, my, how long would it take to move this all across the street to my house.!"

During the construction, he had often reminded me "To do it right and do not cut any corners so that you will have No Regrets later on!"

Charlie, as Sofia called him, was always jealous of Sofia's boundless energy. He wanted her to give him just half of her energy, knowing that she would have plenty left over for both of them.

On a personal note, one could not talk to Charles very long without the "Great White Throne Judgment Day" coming into the conversation. His one desire and admonition was to be ready and able to stand there before God on that Day and be "Welcomed Into the Presence of God."

I am sure that on Friday October 10th 2008, Charles Brown was "WELCOMED INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD WITH SONGS OF JOY AND PRAISE TO AND WITH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR!"

Charlie was ready for the "White Throne Judgement Day!"
