John Robert Gray, 83, of Celeste passed away on Monday, November 16, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be Friday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Bethlehem Baptist church in Farmersville, Texas with Rev. Tim James officiating. Burial will follow at Merit Cemetery.
John was born on August 17, 1937 to John Ager Gray and Vera Belle Ledbetter Gray in San Augustine, Texas. John married Lou Ann Simons on October 2, 1965 in Oklahoma. John was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Farmersville. John was a veteran of the United States Army and worked for Varo/Litton for 28 years and the Hunt County Sherriff Department for 10 years. He also loved being a farmer and spending time with his family.
Survivors are his wife Lou Ann of Celeste, Son Brett Sherman of Quitman, Daughter Sheyenne Grantom and husband Dustin of Anna, Sister Sudie Opal Powel Goodman and grandchildren Bryson Grantom, Corbin Grantom and Ellie Sherman.
John is preceded in death by his parents.
