Sandra Gayle Wallace

Sandra Gayle Wallace,75, passed away March 1, 2020 at Hunt regional Medical Center.

She was born on July 21, 1944 in Greenville, Texas to W.B. “Tink” O’Pry and Louise Hamilton O’Pry.  On September 3, 2004, she married Jimmy Leo Wallace. She worked at Cytec for many years where she retired as a loom operator. Through the years, she attended the White Rock Baptist Church where she played the piano.

To many she was known as Sandra, but to those who loved her most she was known as mom or Nana.  Family company was one of the things she enjoyed most, and every holiday, be it Easter, July 4th. , Thanksgiving or Christmas, her house was always full.  She and Jimmy even went through adding an extra room to the house to seat everyone comfortably.  If there was a holiday, “Nana and Papa Jimmy’s was the place to be.  The only time she didn’t have a family function at her house, was Easter 2019, when she was battling lung cancer, a battle in which she fought hard and won.  Even through chemo, she was still there for family, including attending her grandson’s wedding last summer just before she finished treatment.   They went as far as San Diego and South Carolina over the years for military training graduations for kids and grandkids.   If a family member had a birthday party, Nana and Papa were there.  If a family member had a surgery, Nana and Papa were there.  If a family member had a sporting event, Nana and Papa were there.  Nana loved her kids and grandkids, but she shared a different and one of kind love with her husband Jimmy.  To get away from what could sometimes be madness from a big family, she and Jimmy would often go to the deer lease to spend time together.  They would also spend time in their shop making wood projects that ranged from small outdoor decorations to furniture.  She and Jimmy lived in her mother and father’s old farmhouse, which they completely remodeled themselves over the years, another project they enjoyed doing together.

She is survived by her husband Jimmy Leo Wallace.  Sons, Kevin McCaslin and wife Carol, Tim Foley and wife Brittany and Todd Wallace and wife Kelli, Daughters, Leanne Cummings Little, Tammy Gayle McCann and Shannon Young and husband Craig, Sister, Cynthia Ann Burrow.  Grandchildren, Dustin Rutherford and wife Angela, Micah McCaslin and wife Ashley, William Foley, Christopher Foley, Kenlee Foley, Harlee Turner, Madison McCann, Kenna McCann, Stratton Dennis, Kailob Wallace and Kaden Wallace and fiancée Courtney.  She also had seven great grandchildren: Avriana and Cason McCaslin, Rhylee McCaslin, Sebastian Rutherford, Sawyer and Leo Rutherford, and Cullen Guthrie, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father W.B. “Tink
“ O’Pry, mother Louise Hamilton O”Pry, and brother W.L. “Buster” O’Pry.

Sandra did not want a formal service, instead she wanted family and friends to gather at the house  where we all made so many of our cherished memories, and in her words “talk about the good times with NO crying”.  Anyone is welcome out Saturday, March 7 any time after 1:00 PM.
