Harold Gene Morris, 93, was born April 22, 1926 in Moran, Texas to James Lloyd and Ann Bodine Morris.  Upon graduating from high school at the age of 17 joined the United States Marine Corps to assist in the war efforts during World War II.

Harold met his first love Millie Jones and they married six months later on February 17, 1950.  They remained married until her death in 1996.  After Millie’s death, his friends set him up on a blind date with Evelyn Acker and they married on April 20, 1997 and remained married until his death on December 15, 2019.  He loved to joke and say that he aged a year after just two days of marriage to Evelyn.

Harold was a Master Mason for over 50 years, was an active member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church, Texas Baptist Men and Builders for Jesus.  Harold worked for Temco/LTV/E-Systems for 23 years before he decided to quit and follow his dreams of farming.  He and Millie ran a profitable dairy farm for 14 years then he started building homes and doing remodeling for many people.  He was someone who could do anything and always wanted to share his knowledge with you, if you wanted to learn.

He is survived by his wife, son Lloyd Morris (Peggy), daughter Pam Robertson (Rick), granddaughter Marci Johnson (Derek), step-grandsons, Allen Jones, Art Jones (Cindy) and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, one brother-in-law, Robert Jones (Evelyn) and several first cousins.

Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, brother Corky Morris and sister Dorris Scott.

Harold said that one of his favorite childhood memories was his mother and he, his brother and sister gathered around a coal oil lamp reading the Bible and discussing what they read.  Harold was saved at a very early age and was an honest, trustworthy, funny, hardworking man all of his life and was respected and loved by everyone who knew him.  A memorial service will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Chet Haney and Rev. Royce Litchfield officiating.

Ecclesiastes 7:1 “A good name is better that fine perfume and the day of death better than the day of birth.”

"Yes, Harold was so fun-loving and industrious. The picture you chose for him depicts his inviting smile. He insisted on moving to the back row of the church van so my daughter could lay in her Papaw's lap because he knew about grandchildren. He was a hard worker all his life. You can be so very proud of his legacy. I loved him immensely."
