Richard (Rick) Kent Forbis was born in Des Moines, IA on April 27, 1964 to Robert and Patricia Forbis Sr. After a valiant battle with illness, he left this earth on December 8, 2019.
Rick was a graduate of North Garland High School and held an Associate Degree in Interior Design from El Centro Community College.
Life had other plans for Rick however, and he began a career in banking. First as a teller, and then holding varied leadership positions over the course of 40 years. Recognized as a world leader in creating new and ingenious methods of wire-transfer technology, Rick helped develop three money-saving patents for the banking industry as we know it today. In doing so, he led teams across the country and around the world as they implemented new and innovative money transfer technology for Bank of America, and at the time of his passing Wells Fargo.
Rick shared his wondrous life with his husband, James Horan in Greenville, TX. Together they lived a life of love and adventure. Traveling the globe, caring for pets, gardening, cooking and catering, and generously providing care and comfort to others in their community of family, friends, and colleagues.
He is survived by his loving husband, James; his parents Bob and Pat; his brothers Robert Jr. (Lisa), Tim (Peggy), and Michael (Virginia); and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Rick adored each and every one of them. And they loved and adored him for the beautiful human-being he was as he bravely and proudly lived his life. He was preceded in death by his sister, Kristen.
A glorious celebration of Rick’s life will be a community wide Potluck. Bring your favorite dish to share with all who attend at Wesley United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, doors open on December 28 at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, Rick and James request that donations are made to their favored charities in Greenville, TX; SPCA and FISH.
