Family and friends are mourning the loss of Dr. Peter Gray on November 4, 2019 at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Alamosa, Colorado on September 2, 1944 to Henry Nelson Gray and Cora Peterson Gray. He graduated from Alamosa High School and then served in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Upon discharge he attended Adams State College and then Medical school in Denver, Colorado. He did his Family Practice residency at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas before coming to Greenville to practice in 1978.

He married Angela Hilbert and together they were blessed with 4 children.

Dr. Gray specialized in Family practice and for many years he did it all. He especially loved delivering babies, caring for them and watching them grow up. He was always available to care for his patients.

He became ill in 2011 with Spinal Cerebellum Ataxia and had to retire due to illness in 2013. He enjoyed working on his land and being with his family.

Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his wife of 41 years, Angie Gray; sons, Brian and his wife, Jennifer and Jeff and his wife, Jenny; daughters, Krissy and Maggie Payne and her husband Jeb; six grandchildren, Hope, Josh, Landree, Hudson, Maisie, and Gray;  brother, Curt and sister, Susan; sister-in-law, Julie Hilbert; brothers-in-law, Steve and Dan Hilbert; as well as many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Healing Touch Home Health and Vitas Hospice for their care during his last few weeks; especially Stacy, LaKenya and Zena.
