Inez Baxter Willis, 101, died Monday, October 1, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, October 7, 2019 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Jody Garner officiating. Interment will follow at Brashear Cemetery. Visitation will 1:00 PM until service time Monday.
Mrs. Willis was born August 19, 1918 in Brashear, Texas. She was the daughter of William Charlie Baxter and Beulah Rilla Lunsford Baxter. On January 18, 1933, she married Melvin C. Willis in Hopkins County, Texas. She was a Registered Nurse for Veterans Hospitals in Houston and Dallas. She was a member of Creekside Church of Christ.
Survivors include her granddaughter, Cathy Garner and husband Hal; grandson, Doug Swearingen and wife Patty; son-in-law, Charles Corley; great-grandchildren, Peter Garner and wife, Brandi, Jody Garner and wife, Jessica, Andy Garner and wife, Kara, Danna Teague and husband, Sawyer, Nathan Swearingen; and great-great-grandchildren, Jack Garner, Addie Garner, Christian Garner and Keith Garner. She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Connie Corley.
Her great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
