R C Ottwell, 90, of Greenville, passed away on March 1, 2019 at his residence. A funeral service will be held 2 P.M., Monday, March 4, 2019 at Creekside Church of Christ with Mr. Mark Wilhelm and Mr. Dixon Latham officiating. Burial will be in Etter Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Sunday, March 3, 2019 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Mr. Ottwell was born March 13, 1928 in Hunt County, Texas to Claude Obid Ottwell and Rosette B. Cline. He married Sylvia Sims on August 21, 1948 in Dallas, Texas. He owned Buckner Blvd. Plumbing and was a rancher. He was a weight lifting and checker champion and a member of Creekside Church of Christ.
He is survived by his sons, Jimmy C. Ottwell and wife, Sandra of Greenville and R.C. Ottwell, Jr. and wife, Tammy of Greenville; daughters, Judy C. Durrett and husband, Joe of Mesquite and Jannie M. Busby and Larry of Greenville; ten grandchildren; and twenty-six great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, little sister, Lois Nadine Ottwell, brother, Claude Ottwell, brother, Paul Ottwell, sister-in-law, Margaret Ottwell and grandson, Brian Busby.
Pallbearers will be Matt Ottwell, Jordan Ottwell, Cash Ottwell, Eric Busby, Rance Rogers and Lucas Rollins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Paul Durrett, Nick Martinez and Nick Rollins.
