Lon Edwin (Lonny) Smith, 90, passed away August 5, 2018 at T. Boone Pickens Hospice Care in Dallas. Lonny was born and reared in Cumby, Texas on April 19, 1928. He moved to Dallas in 1950 and was employed at Lone Star Cadillac of several years. He next worked selling office supplies and ultimately began his own business. Upon retirement Lonny moved back to the Smith home place (which he dearly loved) in Cumby, winning the best Christmas out-door décor in the community each year. He was lonely being away from his family, so he moved to a condo in Dallas and commuted back to Cumby to maintain the home property. Lonny was the 10th child born to Minnie (Wilson) and Lon Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents and 11 siblings. He is survived by one sister, Frances Freeman of Dallas and 13 nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Cumby on August 8, 2018 at 11:30 A.M., with entombment at the Cumby Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 A.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donation of choice. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville, Texas in charge of arrangements.
