Sarah Helen Dunn Worthen, 92, went to her home in Heaven on February 28, 2018.  She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.  Helen was born on October 12, 1925 in Greenville, Texas to Robert S. Dunn and Carrie Ellen Barker Dunn.

Helen went to work at First Greenville National Exchange Bank in 1944 where she met the love of her life, Ray.  They were married on January 17, 1948.  Helen left the bank a few years later to start their family.  She returned to the work force in 1965 as Secretary to the Director of Nurses at Citizens General Hospital.  She was quickly promoted and retired as Human Resources Director in 1990.  In 1998 Helen and Ray left Greenville to move to Tyler to be near their son Link and their grandchildren. Upon Ray's death in 2008, Helen moved in with her son Brent in Sugar Land.  In 2015 she moved to Assisted Living in Fredericksburg near her daughter Ginny.  From there she moved to Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation until her death.

Helen is survived by her children Brent Worthen, Ginny Wakeland and husband Jim, and Link Worthen; grandchildren Rachel Warner and husband Louis, and Lydia Worthen; and beloved nieces and nephews. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, four sisters, infant daughter Shannon Jane, and husband Ray. Helen will always be remembered as an excellent cook and hostess, a Bible scholar, a Sunday School teacher, but mainly she will be remembered for her deep love of Jesus Christ and how that was evident in the way she lived her life and treated others.  She will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home on Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 1 P.M.  to 3 P.M.  A private family graveside service will be held at East Mount Cemetery.

Helen's children wish to express their appreciation to the staff at Fredericksburg Nursing and Rehabilitation, Hill Country Memorial Hospice, and Dr. Matthew Hoermann for the loving care given to their mother.

"Brent and Jinny and families....
Your Mom was a wonderfully sweet and gracious lady. I will always remember her smile. She and your Dad we're such terrific role models to all of us growing up. And you know my Mom and Dad loved them dearly and cherished sweet memories of their times together during the old Wesley days. God bless you as you say goodbye to her, but really know tha it is only "so long". Love and blessings.... Alan Ackles"
