Mary Ann Wilson, a loyal resident of Merit, Texas passed away on Monday July 31, 2017 in a Celina nursing home, just 80 years young.   A memorial service will be held to celebrate the beautiful life of Mary Ann Wilson at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 19, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Celeste with Dr. James Ralson and Dr. Jim Sherwin officiating.

Mrs. Wilson was born in Dallas, Texas on November, 2, 1936.  She was the daughter of Asbury Goodman Canafax and Mary Earlene Canafax.  Mary Ann married the love of her life Gordon Wilson, on May 22, 1955 in Dallas, Texas.  She worked at the cotton gin in Farmersville, Texas and was the court clerk for the City of Farmersville for several years.  Although Mary Ann was born in the city of Dallas, she absolutely loved the country where she raised her children and showed them her love of animals, especially dogs and horses.  Mary Ann was always full of life and loved her family dearly.  She loved to sing, dance and make people laugh.  She lived in the moment and made everyone’s day a little brighter.

She is survived by her husband, Gordon Wilson, son Michael Wilson and wife, Melissa Wilson, daughter Wendy Gross and husband James Gross, sisters Linda Clark and Margaret Gutierrez, grandchildren, Brandy Edwards, Austin Wilson, Haley Wilson, Levi Gross and Lathan Gross.

She is preceded in death by her parents and sister Patricia Canafax Wade.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research in memory of Mary Ann Wilson, our new guardian angel.
