Oliver Gene Carter, 88, of Dallas, passed away on June 29, 2017 at the Seasons Hospice in Dallas. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Simmons Cemetery with Elder C. C. Morris officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Oliver was born in Cash, Texas on November 25, 1928 to Edward R. and Bertha Williams Carter. He married Essie Irene Head in El Dorado, Arkansas on July 15, 1950. He was a small business owner and a member of St. Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Dallas.
Oliver is survived by his children, Keith Carter, James Carter, Theresa Dixon and husband, Condy, Rebecca Haworth and husband, Michael; grandchildren, Mason, Evan, Joshua and wife, Patricia, Benjamin and Colby Carter, Michael Dixon and wife, Katherine, Alicia Carter, Andrea, Destiny, Gracie, Jazmyn and Katie Carter, Olivia Dial and husband, Alex, and Court Haworth; great-grandchildren, Ali Carter and Ethaniel Reel.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; grandson, Eric Carter and daughter-in-law, Joyce Carter.
