Lavena “Spookie” Frances Laurie, 100, of Denton, Texas, formerly of Greenville, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016, in Denton. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, July 11, 2016 at Tidwell Cemetery under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Mrs. Laurie was born in Hunt County, Texas on April 5, 1916. She was the daughter of A. M. Prather and Jimmie Pearl Tippett Prather. She married Jack Young in 1936. He preceded her in death. She married E. M. Laurie in 1953. He also preceded her in death in 1980. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Kay Young Ripley of Gainesville, Texas; grandchildren, Stacy Young and Greg Ripley; and great-grandchild, Tyler Ripley. In addition to her husbands, Mrs. Laurie was preceded in death by a son, Charles Young, two brothers, five sisters, one granddaughter, one grandson and son-in-law Dale Ripley.
