Wanda Faye Jenkins Gilmore, 89 of Caddo Mills, passed away on April 21, 2016 at Park Haven Nursing Home. Funeral services are scheduled for at 11 A.M., Monday, April 25, 2016 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Debbie Lyons officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, April 24, 2016 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Mrs. Gilmore was born on August 26, 1926 in Caddo Mills, Texas to Hurley Martin Jenkins and Beckie Ann Webb Jenkins. She married Joseph C. Gilmore on November 11, 1943 at Caddo Mills First Christian Church. She was the secretary for Urbandale Christian Church of Dallas, Texas and Scottish Rite Hospital Administrative Offices. She was a Methodist and a member of the Eastern Star. With Eastern Star she was a member of chapters, James Ladd Burgess, Quinlan and Caddo Mills. She held the honors of Chapter Secretary, Worthy Matron, Deputy Grand Matron, District Deputy Grand Matron, Grand Chaplain for Mary Brown, Worthy Grand Matron and Grand Representative to Washington, D.C.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years J.C. Gilmore of Caddo Mills, Son, Joe R. Gilmore and wife, Kay of Caddo Mills. Daughter, Sandra Ann Gilmore Upton and husband, Johnny of Longview.
She is also survived by five grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Carless M. Jenkins and Hurley Martin Jenkins, Jr., granddaughter, Jennifer Rebecca Upton Green and daughter-in-law, Wanda Jean Gilmore.
Pallbearers will be J.W. Upton, Paul Green, Brian Green, John Herold, Jeff Wood and Peyton Wood.
