Alton Michael Chesne, 69, of Celeste passed away February 19, 2016 at his residence. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Pastor Shawn Stubblefield officiating. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Born December 24, 1946, in Simmesport, Louisiana, Alton was the son of Mitchel and Velma J.
(Firmin) Chesne. On April 24, 1981, he married Linda Joyce Dillon in Ft. Polk, Louisiana. He was retired from the infantry in the United States Army and was a member of the Miller Lodge 224 in Celeste.
His survivors include his wife, Linda of Celeste; children Mitch Chesne and wife Tessa, John (Hoopie) Chesne and wife Alisha, Mike Chesne and wife Stacey, Mary Carmouche and husband Nolan, Sam Chesne and wife Latosha, and Melinda Chesne; 3 brothers; 1 sister; numerous nieces and nephews; 17 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
