Nelda C. Porter, 93, of Greenville, passed away on December 26, 2015 at 3:00 a.m. at Legend Healthcare. Graveside services will be held on Monday at 2:00 p.m. at Memoryland Memorial Park with Mr. Mike Porter officiating. Services are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Nelda was born in Greenville on January 31, 1922 to Solon Alphard and Eliza Ella Cox Sprinkle. She married J. C. Porter on November 3, 1945 in Rockwall, Texas. She worked as a seamstress at White Star Laundry. She was of the Baptist faith. Nelda was a great homemaker, great cook and family meant everything to her
Nelda is survived by her children, Rick Porter of Greenville, James Porter of Mesquite, Cherie Morrison of Greenville, Shelia Petty of Quinlan; 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Joe Porter; brother, Solon Sprinkle, Jr.; 3 grandchildren; son-in-law, Travis Morrison; and daughter-in-law, Anna Porter.
