John H. Mize, Sr.
John H. Mize, Sr., 82, of Celeste, died Monday, November 2, 2015 in Colonial Tender Care. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Celeste with Masonic services, under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Sherwin will officiate. Interment will follow in Celeste Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled Tuesday, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Mr. Mize was born August 6, 1933 in Greenville. He was the son of E. L. “Bill” Mize and Mary Emogene Rabb Mize. He married Frances Allene Biggs on October 4, 1967 in Celeste. He was retired from Monsanto and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Celeste and the Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his sons, John H. “Butch” Mize, Jr. and wife, Beth of Mountain Home, Texas and Mike Lipsey and wife, Carol of Celeste; brother, Charles Mize and wife, Mary of Greenville; sisters, Mary Sue Gant and husband, Dean of Club Lake and Betty Haggard of Gun Barrel City; grandchildren, Misty Yousef and husband, Will of Celina, Monica Mize of Aubrey and Mary Hall and husband, Bobby of Humble, Brody Lipsey and wife, Devon of Gladewater, Tina McDaniel and husband, John of Celeste, Todd Eudy and wife, Amy of Forney; and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on June 6, 2015; parents; brother, Joe Mize; and granddaughter, Brittany Lipsey.
Pallbearers will be Collin Clark, John McDaniel, Russell Compton, Barry Compton, Matt Ottwell and John Mark Barnard.
