Eugene “Gene” Leroy Baldwin, 85, of Greenville passed away October 7, 2015 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Highland Terrace Baptist Church with Rev. Royce Litchfield and Dr. Chet Haney officiating. Interment will follow at Hogeye Cemetery in Celeste. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Born November 1, 1929 in Little Rock, Arkansas, Gene was the son of Arthur and Zora (Byard) Baldwin. On June 22, 1972, he married Jane Rinehart Adamson in Conway, Arkansas. He served his country in the United States Marines. He worked for Westinghouse in Little Rock as a machinist and was a member of the Westinghouse Labor Union having served as President. Gene was an ordained minister and served in the Jail Ministry in Conway. He was a member of Highland Terrace Baptist Church in Greenville and a former member of Gold Creek Baptist Church in Conway and taught adult Sunday School classes at both churches.
His survivors include his wife, Jane; son Mark Baldwin and stepson Craig Adamson; daughter Beth Baldwin Riegler and stepdaughter Christy Wright Perry; sons-in-law Mike Riegler and Chuck Perry; daughters-in-law Esther Baldwin and Rhonda Adamson; grandchildren Abby Baldwin, Shaunna Cleveland, Shane Prater, Candice Schnebelen, Ciara Robbins, Jacob Fulfer, Emily Fulfer, Gavin Adamson, Lexi Adamson, Kennedy Adamson, Josh Wright, Justin Wright, and Chase Perry; and 9 Great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Bud Baldwin, Ed Baldwin, Nina Westmoreland, and Nedra Baldwin; son-in-law Richard Wright; and grandchildren Sarah Riegler, Paula Riegler, Luke Baldwin and Jordan Wright.
Pallbearers will be Austin Shatto, Tyler Shatto, Clayton Mackey, Jacob Fulfer, Walker Powell, and Micah McCaslin.
The family requests memorials be made to Jordan Casey Wright Foundation or the CEF Child Evangelism Fellowship.
