Albertine “Julia” Jeffries
Albertine “Julia” Jeffries, 68, of Greenville, died Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. A memorial service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Allgood officiating.
Through her long working career she was one of the very first females to be hired as a Sales Executive for IBM in The Netherlands. She received numerous awards while associated with IBM. She set the standards for how effected women could compete in primarily a male dominated environment.
After immigrating in 1986 to the United States after her husband Thom sold his corporation in Holland, Julia went into business together with her husband as a sales and marketing team in licensed real estate endeavors. Julia once again excelled in the real estate market. She achieved her Associate Brokers License and GRI designation within a three year span.
Julia and Thom’s real estate business thrived during the “Boom Times” in the Greater Phoenix area. In 2006, Julia’s health started to deteriorate when diagnosed and hospitalized with COPD, a lung disease. Drastic changes were now in order.
Her husband years earlier had taken Julia on vacation to Texas and she wanted to also see where he had graduated from high school in Greenville in 1968. Thom for years had told his wife even while still in business in Holland that he wanted both of us to live there after our work life period had been accomplished. The change brought on by COPD made the move to Greenville from Phoenix now a certainty.
We sold everything and moved to Greenville in 2006 and we both “Thanked God” for his help and guidance in making the right decision to move to now our permanent home. We both “Love Greenville” and all the very special people we have the distinct privilege to call “Greenville Family.”
Julia, Rest in Peace “My Dutch Wife for Life,” we are now home in Greenville.
“Ik Hou Van Jou.” Thom
