Willie Break

Jimmie Willie Marcelle (Horn) Break, 87, known to all as Willie or Sis, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 in Benbrook, Texas, in the home of her son and family.  She had been living there since the summer of 2014, following complications from a broken hip and subsequent stroke.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 23, 2014 at Harvest Bible Church under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.  Rev. Brad Strand and Rev. Jerry Scott will officiate.  Interment will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.  Visitation will be 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Willie was born May 31, 1927 in Edgewood, Texas to Samuel Echols Horn and Nancy Lucinda Kinney.  Along with her mother and brother, she worked the family farm and learned the value of hard work.  She attended school in Edgewood as a young girl.  Later on, the family moved to the Floyd community.  Her mother married Cleo Hise in 1941, who had six children of his own.  Willie graduated valedictorian of her class from Merit High School in 1944.  She married Henry Break, Jr. on October 3, 1945 in Hunt County, Texas.

Willie was employed as a beautician for many years at Patterson’s Beauty Shop and then went to work for Lance, Inc. in 1976, where her husband, Henry was employed.  She worked on the cracker line and enjoyed the friendship of her co-workers there.  She retired in 1992.  She loved working in her vegetable garden and yard, which she kept for many years until her health began to fail.

Willie trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior during adulthood and tried her best to ensure her children were always in church and serving the Lord.  She loved her Lord, church, family and many friends and shared her faith in Christ with those around her.  She was quick to help out all in need, and would cook a meal, send a card or make a phone call to cheer up a friend.

Willie was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Break, Jr.; her mother, Nancy Hise and step-father Cleo Hise; brother Oscar Horn; step-sisters, Dorothy Brown, Peggy Shanks and Helen Morris.  Surviving are her daughter, Theresa Nanette Spears and husband, Charles of Greeneville, Tennessee; Steven Keith Break and wife, Cathy of Benbrook, Texas; grandchildren Nathan Spears, Carrie Spears, Traci Cleveland and husband, Joe, Phillip Break and wife, Bethany, Timothy Break and wife, Lauren, Heather Break, Patrick Break and Andrew Break; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Zoe, Kira and Ilyana Cleveland and Peyton Break; step-sister, Maurine Stevens Hilton and step-brothers, Ken Hise and Bud Hise.

The family would like to thank Christine, Karen and Lharmony and others of Love and Peace hospice for their help in caring for Willie, and the many friends who assisted her while she was still living in her home.
