Glenda Grace Haynes passed away suddenly on October 23, 2014 at her home in Lone Oak, Texas. She had recently celebrated her 82nd birthday.
She was born September 23, 1932 in Lone Oak to Byron and Ruby Neal. Glenda spent most of her life in the Lone Oak area and graduated from Lone Oak High School, where she was a popular cheerleader and Homecoming Queen.
On January 18, 1952 Glenda married Troy Haynes, the love of her life with whom she shared everything for 62 wonderful years. Together in a happy home they raised four beautiful children: Troy Glenn Haynes of Lone Oak, Cindy Duncan of Greenville, Evelyn Cole of Royse City and Marsha Haynes of Rockwall.
Glenda worked many years as office manager for Farmers Electric in Greenville. She was an active member of the Lone Oak Baptist Church, and was a founder and board member for the Lone Oak Area Public Library.
Affectionately known as “GG”, Glenda found true joy in her family and took great pride in hosting memorable holiday meals and gatherings. As her family grew, more tables were placed end to end in her small dining room, then into the living room and beyond. The holidays with GG were a wondrous celebration with lots of laughter and children playing. Somehow she even found time to hand stitch Christmas stockings for every one of her four kids and their spouses, her seven grandchildren and their mates, as well as her 14 great-grandchildren.
Glenda will be remembered with great love by her family, including grandchildren Troy Dale Haynes of Lone Oak, Hollis Goode III of Roanoke, Luke Goode of Greenville, Tony Haynes of Lone Oak, April Habluetzel of Caddo Mills, Tray Haynes of Lone Oak and Jeff Isham of Caddo Mills.
Among the many who did not know her long enough were her great-grandchildren Addison and Avery Haynes, Hadley Goode, Keller and Kasen Haynes, Victoria, Logan and Landon Habluetzel, Rileigh and Brynli Haynes, Lawson and Lindley Goode, and Haygen and Riley Isham.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Sunday, October 26 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville. Funeral services are scheduled for 4 PM Monday, October 27 at Lone Oak Baptist Church, with a sunset burial at Lone Oak Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and Wesley Habluetzel. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lone Oak Area Public Library.
