Sarah Lorene Kirby, 85, of Greenville went home to be with her Lord and Savior October 1, 2014 at Hunt Regional Medical Center. Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug Stevens officiating. Interment will follow at East Mount Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
Born June 15, 1929 in Moulton, Alabama, Sarah was the daughter of Simon and Ira Fay (Witt) Mardis. On July 11, 1947 in Decature, Alabama, she married Otis Ustus Kirby. She was a housewife and a member of First Baptist Church of Greenville.
Her survivors include her sons Jerry Franklin Kirby and wife Shelia, Larry D. Kirby and wife Jeana, and Garry D. Kirby and wife Robin; daughter Cathy F. Goen; brothers Roland and Rule Mardis; sisters Helen, Carolyn, Shelby Jean, and Sandy Mardis; grandchildren Billy E. Crouch Jr. and fiancé Kim, Mark Cross and wife Amy, James T. Mola, Jr. and wife Yolanda, Tracy Elliott, Larry O. Elliott and wife Dawn, Samantha Kirby, Larry Dale Kirby, Jerry F. Kirby, Jr. and Marie Pierce; and great-grandchildren John T. Jones, Sarah M. Jones, Audrey L. Cross and 11 others.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter Vicki D. Summers; brother Sammy Mardis; sisters Shirley and Betty Jean Mardis; and granddaughter Sandy Mola.
Pallbearers will be Billy Crouch, Mark Cross, Jimmy Mola, Garry Kirby, Larry Kirby, and Jerry Kirby. Honorary pallbearer will be John Jones.
