Margaret Valene “Meemaw” Sanders, 91 of Greenville, passed away on Sept. 5, 2014 at the Greenville Health and Rehab. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with son, Ricky Sanders officiating. A committal service followed at Bethel Cemetery.
Valene was born in Wills Point, Texas on February 17, 1923 to Robert Edwin and Edith Ann Wright Phelps. She married Vester S. Sanders in Greenville on October 4, 1939. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
Valene is survived by her daughter, Wanda Booth and husband, Kenneth of Greenville; sons, Ricky Sanders and wife Deborah of Campbell, Stevie Sanders and wife Doris of Azle; grandchildren, Terry Sanders, Stenson Sanders, Curtis Chapman, Jarried Chapman, Gayela Chapman, Eric Thomason, Jeff Sanders, Chris Moser, Carisa Greer, Matthew Gibson, Baret Sanders, Michael Sanders, Emily Sanders; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jerry Sanders; daughters, Donna Gibson, Beverly Thomason; sister, Geneieve Carrow Ishmeal, infant sister, Selva Launa Phelps; and brothers, Manuel Edwin Phelps and James Lemuel Phelps.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Terry Sanders, Stenson Sanders, Jeff Sanders, Curtis Chapman, Jarried Chapman, Chris Moser, Baret Sanders.
