On Oct. 30, 1965, she was married to Gary Harvey in Garland. The couple raised two sons and moved in the 1990s to Commerce, where they have lived since.
Over the years, Mrs. Harvey worked at a variety of jobs. A devoted animal lover, she spent several years working for a veterinarian. But in later years, she decided she wanted a career and enrolled at East Texas State University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology, then continued for a master’s degree in the same field. She worked for several years as a school psychologist in the Mabank ISD.
Shortly after her retirement from the school district, she began experiencing the first symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Despite a heroic fight, the symptoms progressed quickly and side effects from the disease led to her death.
