Betty Hensley
Betty Jean Carper Hensley, 78, formerly of Commerce, passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2014 at the Heartland Manor Care in Grapevine. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Pecan Gap Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at the funeral home.
Betty was born on May 28, 1935 in Cleburne, Texas to Marion and Fannie Williamson Carper. She married Elmer Lee Hensley on September 9, 1961 in Dallas. She worked many years as a journalist and also with Child Protective Services. Betty was currently a member of the First Baptist Church of Grapevine but prior a member for 20 years at the First Baptist Church of Commerce.
Betty is survived by her four sons, David Hensley and wife Deanna of Grapevine, Eric Hensley and wife Mary of East Tawakoni, Edwin Hensley and wife Mikel of Louisville, KY, Tim Thobald and wife Susan of Austin; grandchildren, Jody Hensley, Scott Hensley, Taylor Hensley, Braden Hensley, Petra Hensley, Katherine Jones and husband Michael; great-grandchild, Liam Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, William Carper; sister, Ann Brashear; and brother, Edmund Carper.
