Fayrene Lowry, longtime resident of Greenville, permanently changed her address to Heaven on Tuesday, November 26, 2013.

Fayrene’s generous spirit, twinkling eyes, and yes – even that quick-to-arch eyebrow will be missed by all who knew and loved her.  She was the epitome of “big things come in small packages”.  Her life was devoted to her family and to her church.  She had a passion for children and ministering to others.  Gary Chapman lists five love languages in his book, but Fayrene’s love language was a sixth – cooking.  When Fayrene cooked for you – you knew she loved you.

Through the years many miles were put on her car – not due to travel or vacation but in order to attend sporting events and competitions of her children and grandchildren.  If it was physically possible for her to attend – she was there with her camera to document the event.  Her shelves are filled with photo albums she made for her family.

Her interests and community involvement evolved over the years but always involved children and ministry.  She served on PTA committees, held PTA offices and planned many school parties as homeroom mother.  In her life she was a foster parent, served on the Hunt County Child Welfare Board, taught Sunday School to pre-schoolers, took kids to church camp and cheerleader camp, and sang in the church choir.

In recent years, Fayrene faithfully served on the Family Ministry Committee at Highland Terrance Baptist Church preparing and serving food to many church members and their families.

Fayrene was born in Douglasville, Texas on May 29, 1935.  She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Amos Lowry of Greenville; daughter Brenda Morris and husband Rick of Campbell; son Karl Lowry and wife Ellen of Greenville; daughter Kathy Sorrells of Greenville; grandchildren Cheryl Scott and husband Ben; Kevin Morris and fiancé Amanda Curb, James Lowry and wife Courtney, Michael Lowry, and Lacy Sorrells; great-grandchildren Tyler Scott, Sarah Scott and another great-grandson due in February; a brother Jim Wilson of Harleton; and many much-loved nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents Maye & Alb Wilson, and a brother Royce Phillips.

Pallbearers are grandsons Kevin Morris, James Lowry, Michael Lowry and Ben Scott; son-in-law Rick Morris and dear friend Jerry Bench.  Honorary Pallbearers are Tyler Alan Scott and the members of the Friendship Class of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.

Visitation will be at 9:00 am on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Highland Terrace Baptist Church, 3939 Joe Ramsey Blvd., Greenville, TX  75402 followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Memoryland Memorial Park, 808 West Jack Finney Blvd., Greenville, TX  75402, immediately following the service.  Officiating the service will be Rev. Rodney Williams, Rev. Royce Litchfield, and Rev. Chet Haney.
