Dora JeanRorex

Dora Jean Rorex, the former Dora Jean Burt, daughter of Vee and Sanders (Jack) Burt passed Thursday, June 28, 2012 in Greenville.  Dora Jean was born December 3, 1921.  She attended Liberty Grade School, Greenville Jr. High and Greenville High School graduating 1939.  She was an honor student and a member of Gussie Nell Davis “Flaming Flashes” and later attended Baylor University.

In 1941 Dora Jean married her High School sweetheart, Rusty Rorex and making Dallas their home for 30 years, moving to Hide-A-Way Lake, Lindale for 12 years moving back to Greenville in 1995.

Dora Jean worked for several years for Jack Finney in Greenville as a receptionist, several businesses in Dallas and was also a homemaker.

In 1946 a daughter, Patricia Lynn was born, and preceded her in death in 2005.

Of the Baptist faith, she was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.

Dora Jean is survived by her husband Rusty Rorex, grandson Duke Alan Durham and wife Timie, and great-grandson Reegan James Durham, sister-in-law, Lillian Laney of Hide-A-Way Lake, cousins Sandra Smith Chapman of Hunt, Gail Smith Stillwell of Houston and Ann Long Tuly of Waxahachie, Susan Scott, Billy Chapman and Jimmy Chapman all of Greenville.

 Dora Jean loved her family deeply.  Following years of illness, she was always aware of her family and their love for her, especially the care and love of Virginia Glenday, a friend.

Graveside services will be today at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park Cemetery with Rev. Royce Litchfield officiating.  Services are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
