Betty Ritchey Combs was born September 18, 1924 in Greenville, Texas and passed away February 19th 2012.

She was preceded in death by husband Ben Combs Sr., parents Travis and Willie Ritchey and sister Sarah Herlocker. She is survived by daughter Kay Sullivan and husband Ennis Sullivan of Garland; son Ben Combs Jr. of Richardson; her three grandchildren, Sean Barr and wife Cami of Cypress, Michael David Combs of Frisco, and Brittany Combs of Garland; and her two great grand children Thomas and Ella Barr. 

Betty graduated from Greenville High School and North Texas State University, now the University of North Texas. She was employed by the following independent school districts: Greenville, Houston, and Grand Prairie, and she retired from Richardson ISD in 1990. Betty was blessed to attend Bible Study Fellowship and other bible studies. She taught adult Sunday school classes for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Garland.

Graveside services will be at Memoryland Memorial Park in Greenville on Wednesday, February 22 at 2’oclock PM. Rev. Doyle Combs and Rev. Jack Schmid will officiate.  Family visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6-8 PM at Coker- Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to First Baptist Church of Garland, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Sean Barr, Michael David Combs, Ben Combs, Jr., and Ennis Sullivan.

"I love you Granny. I wish I could have one more day. But as I told you in the hospital, just give it to god. So I'm going to give you to god, and my pain. Its true, you never know how much something means to you until it is taken away. I wish I had taken more time to spend with you. I always said you would out live us all, I didn't think you would leave me so soon. I miss you."
