Each one of us must release the hand of the one we love, into the hand of one we have not seen.

Winona A. Fox passed from this life and entered her peace on Tuesday Jan. 15, 2008, after a long journey with Alzheimer's disease.

Personal arrangements for the Fox Family have been entrusted to Coker-Mathews Funeral Home of Greenville, Texas. Her memory will be honored at the Funeral Home Chapel Saturday Jan 19, 2008 at 2 pm., her grandchildren officiating.   A gathering of family and friends to share life’s memories will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m Friday, Jan 18 2008, at the funeral home.

Winona was a wonderful person, loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend for life. Her sense of humor and quick wit helped to make her loved by many.  Winona’s smile could brighten any moment and she will be intensely missed by those she touched in precious ways.

She was born Winona Adeline Brannan February 6, 1921 in Sopris, Colorado, the daughter of Joseph and Mattie (Stapleton) Brannan. On October 5, 1940 she married Jack Connor Clark in Kaufman, he preceded her in death on June 9, 1944. One child Jo Ann was born of this union. On October 5, 1946 she married Lawrence B. Fox in Rockwall, he preceded her in death on December 10, 1990. Three children were born from this union, Linda, David and Shyrlee. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Mable Atkisson, Delories Underwood, and Katherine Tharp, step-son Levoy Fox and 2001 her beloved son David Lawrence Fox.

Winona was raised in Wieland, Hunt County, Texas attending school at Sunset. She worked in a defense plant during WWII. Winona was a member of the Church of Christ. She loved gospel music, crocheting and writing. She moved to the Broadway community in Crosby County in 1951 where she and her husband farmed. A change in career took them to Maple, then Seagraves, where she worked with her husband in the cotton gin business; Idalou, where she was a beautician; moving to Loving, NM, then to Clovis, NM where she worked for Allsup Store Headquarters and back to Crosbyton after retirement. After the death of her husband, she returned to Wieland in 1991.  Although her precious memories were gone, her sweet loving and humorous spirit remained; this will forever be her legacy.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Jo Ann Fox of Odessa; Linda Hughes and husband Steve of Euless and Shyrlee Fox and husband Doug Dodson of Denton. One stepdaughter, Joy Luton of Arlington. A brother, Billy Brannan and wife Florence and one sister Jean McKinney, all of Quinlan.
