Virginia “Ginny” Margaret Combs Peacock, 92, of
Campbell, passed away on July 27, 2022, at her home in Campbell. Funeral
services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 30, 2022, at Creekside Church of
Christ with Dennis Hilton and Ronny Buchanan officiating. Visitation will be
6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Friday, July 29, 2022, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Interment will be in Memoryland Memorial Park.
Ginny was born March 27, 1930, in Clinton Community,
Hunt County, Texas to James Thomas Combs and Mittie Bowers Combs. Ginny was a
graduate of Floyd High School. She married Gene Peacock on August 20, 1955, in
Dallas, Texas. She retired from Southwestern Bell in April 1979 after 30 years
of service as a telephone operator. She and Gene were members of Johnson Street
Church of Christ now known as Creekside Church of Christ for many years. After retiring, Ginny enjoyed traveling,
quilting, cooking, reading, as well as her pets and gathering with family and
friends.
She is survived by her brother, Joe Combs of Campbell,
and 17 nieces and nephews many great
nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, parents,
brothers, J.T. Combs, John M. Combs, sisters, Rita Combs McAnn, Peggy Combs
Adams, and Vela Combs O’Neil, and niece, Alicia McAnn.
Pallbearers will be A.J. Hilton, Thomas Hilton, Josh
Buchanan, Arvin Combs, James Jordan and Ryan Jordan.
Ginny will be missed by all of her family, and special
friends June Bennett, Jean Krodle, Maria Green, Gayle Burns, her friend Pam
Richards and special care givers at Legends.
Her family wishes to thank Hunt Regional Medical
Center Hospital doctors and emergency staff as well as 3 rd. floor nursing, and
Family First Hospice for the care they all provided.
