Fredrick Dewayne Powell

(Fredrick) Dewayne Powell, 66, passed away on June 14,
2022. A celebration of his life will be
held at First Church Royse City on Monday, June 20, at 10 AM, with Rev. Jason
Hammack officiating. Funeral
arrangements are under the direction of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home.
Dewayne was born on June 23, 1955, to Alfred M. and Margie
Browning Powell in Greenville, Texas. Upon graduation from Caddo Mills High
School, he and his brother enlisted together in the Marine Corps in 1974 and
served until 1977. He then attended
East Texas State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s
degree. He worked for Explorer Pipeline
for many years, until he went into business for himself. For almost 25 years he owned and operated
Powell Small Engine. You could find
Dewayne reading God’s Word with a cup of coffee each morning. He looked forward to and loved the many trips
and vacations he spent with his family through the years.
Dewayne is survived by his wife, Rita Powell of Greenville,
brother Michael Powell and wife Kim of Caddo Mills, sisters Lynda Howard and
husband Jan of Greenville, and Fredna Brown and husband Gaylord of Terrell,
four children and five step-children. He
is also survived by his grandchildren, whom he loved very much, and numerous
nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Michael Hammack, Nicholas Hammack,
Tanner Hensley, William Hensley, Nathan Howard and Brandon Newman.
