Bob Layman,
86, of Greenville, passed away on May 7, 2022 at his home. A funeral service is set for 10:00 a.m.,
Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Highland Terrace Baptist Church, under the direction
of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home. Burial
will follow at Memoryland Memorial Park.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at
Highland Terrace Baptist Church.
Bob was born February
4, 1936 in Gunter, Texas to William Carl and Dillie Virginia Skelton
Layman. He married Doris Jean Todd on
May 27, 1955 in Gunter, Texas. He was a graduate of Southeastern Durant and Southwestern Seminary Ft. Worth . Bob pastored from 1954 to 2006 at many churches, which
include, Mt. Carmel, Tioga, Pecan Gap, Dorchester, Celeste, Washington Street /
Highland Terrace Baptist Church, Hawkins, Bethel Baptist Celina, and Merit. July 3, 2016, he was bestowed the honor of Pastor
Emeritus of Highland Terrace Baptist Church.
Bob is
survived by his wife, Doris Layman of Greenville; sons, David Layman and wife,
Tammy of Crowley, Nathan Layman and wife, Renee’ of Greenville; daughter, Carla
Moody and husband, Randy of Pasadena; grandchildren, Josh Beames and wife,
Shanna, Caleb Beames and wife, Stefanie, Jonathan Beames and wife, Alyse, Jami
Alkhayer and husband, Corban, Joni Chastain and husband, Joel, Jaki Rix and
husband, Drew, Charity Layman and Aaron Layman and wife, Meg; and 16
great-grandchildren.
He is
preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Gene Layman; sisters, Beulah
Horak , Corrine Baker and Virginia Neil.
Pallbearers
will be Josh Beames, Caleb Beames, Jonathan Beames, Aaron Layman, Corban
Alkhayer, Joel Chastain and Drew Rix.
Memorials may
be made to the Highland Terrace Baptist Church Building Fund, 3939 Joe Ramsey
Blvd., Greenville, Texas 75401.
