Genelle Lee Butler, 85, of Merit, passed away on April
21, 2022, in Greenville, Texas. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday,
April 23, 2022, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel with Samuel Glenn
officiating. Interment will be in Merit Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M.
until service time.
Mrs. Butler was born in Farmersville, Texas on October 18,
1936, to George "Happy" Kuykendall and Zelma Lee Rogers. She
married Kenneth Butler on June 20, 1954, in Floyd, Texas. Together they
owned and operated Kenneth Butler Foundation Repair. Mrs. Butler was a
faithful member of Peniel Baptist Church where she played piano for many years.
Mrs. Butler is survived by her daughter, Janis Richter and
husband, Dean; son, Lyndel Butler and wife, Tammy; brother, Jerry Shinn;
grandchildren, Jason Campbell and wife, Trena; Tawnya White and husband, Corey;
Megan Gunnels and husband, Casey; Stephanie Allard; seven great-grandchildren
and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband;
parents; step-father, Adam Shinn; sister, Bobbie Jean Peppers;
brothers, Travis Shinn, Bob Shinn and Tommy Shinn.
Pallbearers will be Lyndel Butler, Tim Butler, Mark
Butler, Casey Gunnels, Corey White and Dwayne Adams. Honorary pallbearers will
be Jerry Shinn, Vince Peppers and Dwayne Patterson.
