Joyce Jean (McGee) Fugitt, 81,
of Greenville passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Briarcliff Health
Center. Her funeral service will be held
at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 13, 2022, at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home Chapel
with Bro. James Seigler officiating. Interment will follow at Merit
Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M.
until service time at the funeral home.
Born September 16, 1940, in Greenville, Joyce was the
daughter of M.H. “Scotty” McGee and Vera (Crawford) McGee. She graduated Greenville
High School in 1959 and stayed active organizing class reunions until her
On July 15, 1960, she married Charles William Fugitt
and they were happily married for 51 years.
She and Charles were longtime, faithful members of North Baptist Church
in Greenville where she served as church secretary for 15 years and in recent
years she became a member of Honey Creek Baptist Church. Joyce also worked as
an office clerk at the Greenville Livestock Commission & McKinney Livestock
Commission for 25 years. She served as a
Hunt County Election Judge/Clerk for 45 years and enjoyed meeting people by
selling Avon for over 14 years.
Joyce was a proud wife, Mother, and “Mimi” to her
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Jeff Fugitt and wife Jean,
daughter, Charlotte Tharp and husband Tommy all of Greenville. Grandchildren, Trey Honeycutt and wife
Melissa, Brandon Fugitt, Brett Fugitt and wife Kim, Chasey Tharp and wife
Stephanie, Chelsea Hughes and husband Houston:
Brother, Larry McGee (Carolyn), sisters, Barbra Chambliss Miller and
Geraldine Berry (Dan) 8 great-grandchildren – Atlas, Trent, Loran, Ayla, Lexie,
Henry, Dylan and Carala.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband
Charles in 2011.
Pallbearers will be Trey Honeycutt, Brandon Fugitt,
Brett Fugitt, Chasey Tharp, Trent Honeycutt and Gene Watson.
The family would like to extend an extra special thank
you to the Briarcliff Health Center staff for all the love, care and compassion
shown to Joyce during her stay. Each and every one of you went above and beyond
to make sure she was well cared for.
