Stephen Vincent Farquhar,
66, of Greenville, passed away on April 14, 2021 in Greenville. A memorial
service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 15, 2021 at Coker-Mathews Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Baker.
Stephen was born in
Mexia, Texas on June 14, 1954 to Olin Vincent Farquhar and Allie Marie
Anderson. He was a former employee at Greenville Herald Banner where he loved
to work and loved the people he worked with.
was a very intelligent but humble man with seemingly unlimited interests. As a boy he became interested in astronomy.
He was very proud of his first telescope. He also had a large aquarium and knew
the name of every tropical fish and what other fish they were compatible
with. As he grew up his interests grew
with him. He loved photography, studied Spanish and Latin, and anything else
that would challenge him.
had a great sense of humor and absolutely loved playing practical jokes on
unsuspecting family members and friends. He had a great love for his
family. Stephen was a one of kind type
of guy that will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his
brothers, Dale Farquhar and wife, Debra and Ronnie Farquhar; sister, Phyllis
Smith; nephews, Jerry Dale Farquhar, Brian Farquhar, Michael Combs, Chris Combs
and Mark Daniel Harrison; and nieces, Angie Jordan, Monya Sterner, Shelly Farr
and Ashley Geiger.
He was preceded in death
by his parents, sister, Becky Geiger and nephew, Damon Farquhar.
